We all think we want to hear the truth, but a lot of us don’t, even when we say we do.

Some of us just want to hear what will make us feel better right now.

We want to hear the thing that makes all of our problems someone else’s fault and doesn’t require us to change or think critically about our lives.

And honestly, sometimes that’s okay.

Sometimes it is okay to want to hear what will make you feel better right now, if you just want to feel better right now.

It is okay to choose comfort over courage sometimes. Because sometimes, that’s exactly what we need.

But if your goal is to feel better in the long term, and you want to stop struggling with the same problems over and over again (and actually fix these problems that you keep running into), sometimes you need to hear the truth. Even when it’s uncomfortable.
